Introducing STEPS/B2C
The Secured Transaction & Electronic Payment System, or STEPS, is specially designed for mobile businesses as well as those that currently have fixed-line terminals but want to enhance their service level by providing onsite transactions.
Developed in the United States, STEPS leverages on the GSM wireless telecom network to expand point-of-sales (POS) capabilities to a market where traditional POS terminals have previously been inaccessible due of the lack of wire-line infrastructure and high cost of existing wireless POS terminals. Using the ‘always on’ capabilities of the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), STEPS is able to process a transaction remotely, securely within seconds.

- Versatile . STEPS/B2C may be used as line busters for better customer services as well as for road shows and exhibitions without the traditional line extension cost and with transactions done in full view of the customers.

System components
The STEPS/B2C comes in a complete ready-to-use package comprising of the following components:
- Mobile Terminal - an innovative mobile POS device that includes both magnetic card reader and smartcard reader to provide the merchant with the ability to accept any type of payment cards. The mobile terminal provides a Secured Access Module (SAM) that encrypts the payment card information and authenticates the mobile terminal to the payment system. The mobile terminal is also equipped with an infrared interface for communicating with a mobile printer.
- Mobile Printer – a mini mobile thermal printer that provides the merchant with a complete mobile POS solution that can be used in both mobile and fixed location environment.

- Each applied STEPS/B2C terminal requires a refundable RM 1,000.00 deposit. You are required to provide this deposit upon application plus RM 40.00 for agreement stamping fee. Please make a cheque with the exact amount payable to ‘Rhythm Technologies Sdn Bhd’. Your deposit payment will only be banked in upon your application approval by the Bank.
- Formula:
(No of terminals x (1 st month rental RM200 + Deposit RM 1,000)) + RM 40.00)
- Note:
Every subsequent month, you will be billed RM 200 per terminal for the monthly rental fee for the STEPS/B2C terminal. Under the STEPS/B2C Rental Agreement, you are required to subscribe for a minimum of 12 months.

- Upon Rhythm Technologies’ and Bank’s approval (within 14-21 working days), our field technician will personally send to you the STEPS/B2C terminal(s), ready for transactions. He will also provide you with a free lesson onto how easy it is to use the STEPS terminals for your business transactions, right away! Now you can accept any MasterCard or Visa credit card for your business sales, on the go!
- The Bank shall effect payment to you, the Merchant, on the next day for the total value of all the payment transactions accepted by the Bank on that day, less the applicable Merchant Discount Rate or Merchant Fee of 2.5%. You are required to maintain a banking account with any branch of the Bank in order for the Bank to affect payment.
